Big Kids Club, 4y to 6y
芽芽華語班(大)
Big Kids Club welcomes Ya Ya alumni and children ages 4–6 who already have a foundation in Mandarin. We see this stage as one of the most important chapters in a child’s Mandarin journey.
Early childhood goes by so fast! Before the busy schedules of growing up take over, this is our window to nurture something lasting — a genuine love for Mandarin and the inner spark that keeps children motivated to learn, speak, and connect through Mandarin for years to come.
Through hands-on science and art projects, theater, and storytime — all guided in Mandarin — children naturally build vocabulary, deepen conversation skills, and develop a real appreciation for Chinese culture. Over time, they grow stronger in listening and speaking, begin their journey into Chinese literacy, and become increasingly confident and capable Mandarin learners.

A few notes...
To make the most of our program, children should be comfortable with independent drop-off. Since we jump right in from day one, confidence and readiness go a long way!
We lovingly hold all children to shared classroom guidelines — because a safe, respectful space is where the best learning happens. Regular attendance and punctuality also make a big difference in your child's progress and sense of belonging.
If any concerns come up in the classroom, we will always reach out to you promptly — our team is here to support both you and your child every step of the way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you teach Chinese character reading and writing?
While we do not teach Chinese character reading and writing based on textbooks, we support our children to develop early Chinese literacy skills with our in-house designed books with Chinese characters. Our immersive classroom environment is intentionally set up to act as an invisible teacher, with Chinese characters labeled everywhere, on the bulletin board, calendar, projects, and story books. Early readers have plenty of opportunities to learn.
Can my child join if they don’t already speak Mandarin?
Our programs are designed for children who already can understand basic classroom instructions and directions in Mandarin (either our alumni from Ya Ya preschool day school program or a Mandarin native speaker at home). If your child is under 4 years of age, we highly recommend starting the journey with our day school Ya Ya Preschool.
Are Chinese reading and writing classes offered at Ya Ya?
Our program is a comprehensive Mandarin program that focuses on listening and speaking skills, as well as pre-reading and pre-writing Chinese literacy skills.
If you wish to focus on learning reading and writing, you may wish to consider another Chinese language program called CCBG, which will teach pinyin, reading and writing systematically.
