Work Time
Morning and afternoon work time is a key period where children freely explore learning materials that are purposefully set up by their teachers. While children work with materials either in a small group or on their own, teachers observe each child and take notes that will help them understand where each child is in their development.

Morning Meeting
Morning meeting orients children and sets the goals for the day. They gather as a group to discuss attendance, weather, schedule, their jobs, and the focus of the day. It’s a time when children also share their experience such as how they go to school, what they did during the weekend, etc., allowing them to develop their public speaking skills.

Topic Deep Dive
During discussion time, children practice key vocabulary and explore new concepts. They engage in teacher- and self-directed stations and projects in Chinese language arts, math, science, art, and social studies, using multi-sensory materials. Daily reading of Ya Ya Big Books fosters early literacy, and regular field trips enrich their learning beyond the classroom.

Physical Activities
Children develop gross motor skills and stamina through physical activities, essential for kindergarten readiness. Weekly trips to neighborhood parks provide outdoor play. On days when weather prevents outdoor time, we use our library for indoor activities like dancing and obstacle courses. Fine motor tasks like using paint brushes, glue sticks, and scissors are part of daily learning. Read more here.

Specials
We offer weekly specials to enrich children's experiences, including music and movement for rhythm and singing, and cooking to build fine motor skills and early math and science concepts. Afternoon Chinese early literacy sessions expand vocabulary through hands-on activities. We also invite professionals for yoga, martial arts, dance, and music demos. Read more here.

Meal Time
Meal time goes beyond eating snacks and lunch. It is a period of time where children learn self-help skills such as cutting up fruit, feeding themselves, cleaning after themselves, and helping their teachers carry and distribute lunch boxes. At Ya Ya, children eat snacks and lunch together like a family which allows them to interact and socialize with each other. Read more here.
